The 3 Keys to Self Promotion

As an entrepreneur or small business owner, it can be easy to let the day-to-day of running your business get in the way of your marketing efforts. Without talking to clients, filling orders, or keeping your finances straight, your business can easily run away from you. But without clients to talk to, orders to fill, or income to account for - do you even have a business? Focusing on marketing or advertising for your business is VITAL to its longevity, but that doesn’t mean it has to be a complicated long process. These three advertising methods could not be simpler, but they’ll have your phone ringing off the hook in no time.

Email Marketing

We’re starting with what may be the most daunting method of advertisement first because we’ve got to debunk that myth! Email marketing doesn’t have to look like the dozens of emails you get after making one purchase from old navy, or the daily newsletters you get from some of your favorite bloggers. All it takes is a weekly or monthly email to remind your current and previous customers that you’re still in business, you’re still doing great things, and you have something awesome to offer that they MUST get their hands on ASAP. Email marketing is changing, and it doesn’t have to be a fancy formatted email either. Draft an email like you’re telling a friend about this cool new product/service you found, drop in your logo, and press send.

Social Media

Chances are your business already has a social media account or two - but are you using them to their fullest potential? Sometimes when it comes to social media less is more. The easiest way to start using your social media to grow your business is to narrow down your focus to two platforms that you LOVE, and start posting on them consistently. Consistently could mean once a day, once a week, or somewhere in between, but whatever you do choose - stick with it. Consistency is key when it comes to growing your social media and it’s hands down the easiest way to make sure that your business is always in the minds of your customers.

Word of Mouth

Remember when I said social media is the easiest way to stay in the minds of your customers? Well, I lied… Kinda. The easiest way for you to advertise yourself is to have someone else do it for you. How do you do that? By being AMAZING at whatever it is that you do. Perform your service or create your product to completely WOW your customers and clients, and they’ll be sure to spread the word. Recommendations and positive reviews all in one? Now that’s some advertising I can get behind.

By narrowing your focus and channeling your marketing efforts into the platform or channel that works best for you, your advertising power will fly through the roof. It may seem like a lot of work at the start, but it’s well worth it over time - after all, don’t you want everyone to know how awesome you are?
